Alright, buddy. What do you think you’re doing wearing that tshirt to work? I mean, come on. Yeah, we all love that site and everything… but are you serious? First of all, it’s ratty, tired, and pretty old. Second, are you trying to annoy the guy behind you? We’re all friends and everything, but you need better taste. You need one like this:

Really. Everyone will love you.

Carsie Blanton and the Wood Brothers

Last night I got to see my friend Carsie perform as the opener for the Wood Brothers tour. She also asked me to bring along my camera and take a few photos of her set, and I was happy to oblige. I'd never heard the Wood Brothers play before, but I was really impressed by their sound and set. Another friend of mine described the rhythms as spices - little subtle bits that add to the overall flavor. And it was pretty tasty.

Now I have to go out and buy a couple CD's...

Way back on March 4, I got to tour the Pythian Temple in Tacoma and take a few photos as part of Tacoma's Photo Safaris. Since then, I moved, and I'm just now getting around to publishing some images. Here are three that I was going to enter in the exhibit, but ran out of time to matte and frame in the move.

The Dockyard Derby Dames Season 2 started last Saturday with a fantastic bout. The Trampires ran away from the Marauding Mollys early on and took the win, and the Fiannas managed to squeeze past the Homewreckers in a nail biter to take home their win. It was a great start to the season, and I'm sure the upcoming matches will be just as good. Now, here are some photos.

Not satisfied to just go north to Tukwila, I've decided that as of today, I'm going to be living in Seattle. That's right, Tacoma. Eat it, Tukwila. I'm going to be living in a land where espresso flows as freely as water and you're lucky if someone gives you the time of day. And I'm going to love it.

If you want to reach me, you'll first have to show me what you can do for me, otherwise I'll just pass you by with my look of smug superiority.

I'm sure most Tacomans will remember that craigslist ad that ended up with all of a woman's belongings being stolen out of her house (Seattle Times), but it's happened again-this time in Jacksonville, Oregon. The owner was able to stop the thefts midway, so he didn't lose everything. Someone almost made off with his horse, however.
Symphony Random Number Generator

In the Symphony community, people are constantly asking how to generate random numbers, and the response is always, "You make a Campfire service to return a value." I decided to get my toes wet in the Campfire Service pond with this quick and easy problem, and here's the solution. Check it out. http://overture21.com/campfire-service/detail/54/

It's 1.7 compatible, and when 2.0 gets released, I'll update it for that.

DyDD Expo Bout - Good vs. Evil

Last Sunday, I got the pleasure of photographing Tacoma's roller derby. Last year, the Dockyard Derby Dames made quite a splash, and this year is looking to be even better. I only got to see one bout last year, the championship bout, but it was a ton of fun and I was hooked. This year, I'll be taking photos at all the events, and trying to improve my low-light action abilities.

This bout was an exhibition to attract new dames. The league is offering open tryouts on March 2 for anyone that is interested.

The expo bout featured two teams, Team Good vs. Team Evil. Team Good was dressed up like Catholic school girls, and Team Evil was very black. Team Good ended up winning the match, but it was a very tight race up to the last few jams. In all, a great event. The next (and first regular season) bout is scheduled for April 5 at the Soccer Center. Be sure to check it out.

Last friday, Kevin asked me to help shoot some photos of lights that could be used to light the Narrows Bridges. We met up at Chambers Bay golf course after work, and I made it out there just in time to see an absolutely amazing sunset. After taking a few shots of the sunset, I was shuttled out to see the lights and shoot a few more photos. This is what it looked like.
